Putting a Bold Twist on Classic Wedding Trends

Weddings are a celebration of love, commitment, and unity, and often they follow certain traditional customs and themes. However, modern couples are increasingly looking to put their own unique spin on classic wedding trends. From the decor to the ceremony itself, there are many ways to incorporate that personality and style into your clients’ big day.

Some of my very favorite events are timeless yet unexpected and chic, so let’s explore some bold twists on tried-and-true elements!

Florals

When it comes to florals, my clients never want their wedding to look like everyone else’s. They want something romantic and beautiful, but it should always be a bespoke experience that echoes their vision and gives a luxurious feel to their day.

Instead of falling in line with a one-dimensional look that we’ve seen before, opt for whimsical textures and shapes for your arrangements and installations. Ani and David’s floral themed wedding really tested the waters and brought a fresh take where we hung individual flowers in varying shapes and sizes face-down by their stems. It was amazing and unique, all while still giving a classic feel to their décor.

Color Palettes

Determining the palette for a wedding can really set the stage for the vibe of the entire event, and there is a wealth of classic color trends that I’ve seen over the years, as we all have. While there are couples that certainly want a simplistic, minimalist look, there are plenty of those that want a modern take that gets their guests talking.

As someone who’s always a fan of a monochromatic look such as lovely shades of ivory and white, or even blush and neutral colors, there are plenty of ways to make this design pop. Monique and Terek’s wedding at Hummingbird Nest Ranch incorporated an incredible wedding palette twist where we incorporated darker accent hues for some added depth. This is perfect for the couple that wants to level up, but still desires something that will look great for years to come.

Elevated Design

Design as a whole can be relatively easy to adjust in order to bring new ideas to the forefront. Think out-of-the-box when it comes to interactive elements or fun layouts – anything that goes beyond the ordinary recipe of a wedding. Oftentimes, it’s also not about just the physicality of trends, but more so, how your clients and their guests experience the event.

Dallar and Elvis had a brilliant update for their ceremony that was a creative twist; they opted for a mirrored aisle that added such an amazing touch. Not only did it elevate an otherwise traditional outdoor wedding ceremony, but it packed a powerful punch when paired with their florals and luxe arch.

Additionally, the couple transformed their indoor reception space with subtle choices that made all the difference – waterfall floral décor pieces, velvet draped chairs, and stunning atmospheric lighting.
