What Does 2023 Mean for Your Business Growth?

It’s officially that time of year – creatives and business owners alike are looking ahead to forecast what the coming year has in store for us! Bearing in mind that the last few years have been unpredictable at times (to say the least), we are taking full control in 2023.

While growth is certainly on everyone’s radar, no two journeys are going to look the same. Maybe you’re finally ready to grow your team and add some extra desks in the office. Maybe you’re looking to increase your bottom line and generate some more client leads. Regardless of your goals, I want to bring you some insight to help you get to the finish line.

Step One: Be Intentional

Let’s start with the basics. When you consider setting any type of goal, it’s extremely important to make sure that you’re being both realistic and intentional. For example, if you’re hoping to expand your services in the coming year, make sure that you have all of the resources and bandwidth to do so. If this isn’t something that makes sense in your busy schedule, it may be better to categorize this as a long-term goal rather than something you hope to achieve in a few months’ time.

Sit down and think about all of the steps it will take to get from point A to point B. Do you need all hands on deck or is this a solo mission? Will you need to outsource? Does it financially make sense? Will you need to perform some market research? Being prepared and realistic when setting goals for growth will make them much more attainable rather than simply writing them down and hoping for the best.

Growing Pains Are Real (and that’s okay!)

Oftentimes, we forget that growth can create a ripple effect throughout the rest of your business. I’ve experienced this first-hand! Running into obstacles doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going the wrong way.

Consider this: you’re looking expand your services or even develop a second brand. In doing so, you may need to invest in additional employees or consultants to help you get there. You might also find that your schedule is going from 0 to 100, which leaves you to struggle for a few months on finding that perfect balance. Yes, this can initially be a stressful transition, but I can tell you that the end results are worth the growing pains!

Consider Your Strengths

Lastly, you’ll want to ensure that you’re taking your strengths and weaknesses into consideration. This might be a no-brainer, but it’s worth noting that you shouldn’t bite off more than you can chew.

If you’re tackling a new project or brainstorming on how to get some dream clients in the door, think about what your role can be. Are you insanely good at brand direction, or do you need a little help? Is your writing out-of-this-world, or should you think about enlisting someone to churn out some amazing website copy or social media captions? It’s all about knowing what you can do and being graceful to admit what you can’t do.

As 2022 comes to a close, I’m wishing all of you the very best for a fruitful 2023. Enjoy the time to reset and refresh, and be ready to face the new year head-on!
