Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte French Wedding Editorial - Part 1: The Proposal

Envisioning, designing and bringing beauty to life is always a joy, but especially when its in a location as special as this one. I was recently invited to Europe to bring my unique design aesthetic to a series of editorial photo shoots, one of which took place at the historic, and absolutely spectacular, Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte.

The Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte is a baroque French château with formal gardens so magnificent they inspired those at the Château de Versailles. Built in the 17th century the château has now been owned for 5 generations by The Vogüé family. They opened it to the public in 1968 and continue to welcome guests, host events, provide education and share the beauty and history of 17th century French decorative arts. We’re so grateful they welcomed us to their estate for this creative photo shoot.

Along with my talented team of collaborators, we began our editorial story with a romantic proposal and private dinner inside the chateau. Yellow, cream and pale green flowers contrasted with the dramatic black and silver furniture, decor accessories and table settings. Delicate butterflies added a playful touch to the atmosphere. After the proposal we explored the grounds of the estate and photographed our elegant couple throughout the chateau’s legendary formal French gardens.
