An Enchanted Garden Wedding in Colorful Orange, Peach & Blush

When designing weddings, I always love to start with the bride and her personal style. The dress she's chosen, and the look she envisions for herself represent the atmosphere she wants the entire celebration to have, so they become the foundation that my design ideas spring from.

For Julia and Vardan's wedding, Julia's gorgeous, signature red hair was the key starting point to our wedding design inspiration. To celebrate her personal aesthetic and create a one-in-a-lifetime experience for their guests, I created an enchanted garden wedding reception filled with florals and accents in shades of orange and pink. From the hanging roses and flowing floral table centerpieces to the modern flower print dance floor, every detail nodded to Julia’s beauty and created a romantic, playful, abundant atmosphere that celebrated their joy.

Love the enchanted garden event look? Here are a few of my favorite design tips to bring this type of event to life:

1. Look for ways to incorporate botanical details throughout the event, not only in the floral arrangements.

What pattern are you using for your chargers, dinner and salad plates? How about your glassware? Consider delicate floral illustrations on your menus, seating cards, table numbers and other stationery. Flooring, linens, drapery and wall installations can be used for bringing floral or botanical patterns into larger spaces. Even the dining chairs can have organic details in their design.

2. Consider the type of garden you want to emulate, and how they are designed and planted.

Do you want a relaxed English Country Garden look? Then keep your floral arrangements loose and organic, like they had just been cut from an overflowing garden. Going for more of a manicured, formal garden feel? In this case, play with topiaries and more structured floral arrangements and containers. Gardens come in all styles, so choose the type that feels most inspiring to you and begin your design process with a clear vision.

3. Creating purposeful backgrounds will help your colors pop.

In gardens, green is the predominant color, but we often look past it to see the colors of the blooms. Use this concept to your advantage when designing events! To help colorful florals and floral patterns stand out you can mute other aspects of the space with solid colors so they’ll act as a supportive background. From draping, linens and carpets, to components of your table settings, utilize the contrast to highlight the most important design details.

4. Get Inspired
