Floral Inspiration For a 1st Birthday Party: Pastel Yellow, Pink & Blue

How do you create a vibrant, refreshing, playful atmosphere for a 1st birthday party (that the adults will enjoy as much as the children)? Turn to the magic of flowers in your decor! At this darling little girl’s 1st birthday party, we wanted to elevate the at-home experience for everyone in attendance since parties are few and far between at the moment.

Using a sweet pastel color palette focused on pale yellow, pink, blue and green we filled the tented outdoor space with floral arrangements at every level. Floral centerpieces lined the dining tables, flowers and balloons hung from the ceiling like an organic chandelier, and accent arrangements adorned the dessert cart and other elements of the home. Thinking about the space as a whole and making sure there are beautiful elements for the eye to see at every level is something I always consider when designing!

Down the center of the long dining table, I placed centerpieces of varying heights in lightly textured white ceramic containers. The arrangements included preserved amaranthus, yellow tree peonies, light blue delphiniums, pink astilbe, buttercream yellow roses (or candlelight roses), spray roses and lisianthus. For napkin treatments at each place setting, a light blue linen napkin was tied in a loose knot around a delicate stem of flowers and a hand written place card for each guest. Not to be outdone, the kids had their own fun at miniature picnic tables set with colorful paper plates, bamboo silverware and striped party hats. I love the fresh and playful feeling of the entire event!
