Stunning Outdoor Wedding Venues for Romantic Celebrations

Some wedding venues just stop you in your tracks. In my experience, some of the most magnificent wedding venues are the ones that are outside.

Outdoor wedding venues offer something no indoor space can fully replace — natural light, open sky, and a sense of scale that takes your breath away. The best ones give you a canvas so remarkable that great design is inevitable.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of designing weddings at some of the most stunning outdoor venues in the world — from the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast to the gardens of Beverly Hills. These are my favorites. The ones that moved me. The ones my clients still talk about years later.

If you're searching for the right outdoor wedding venue, start here.

  1. Santa Lucia Preserve — Carmel, California

Santa Lucia Preserve is one of the best outdoor wedding venues in Carmel, California. Nestled in 20,000 acres of secluded wilderness, it offers incredible diversity for weddings. You can get married underneath ancient Redwoods, give your vows under a historic 1920s Hacienda, or celebrate on the panoramic hillside with vineyard views.

Capacity sits around 200 seated or 350 standing guests — which keeps celebrations intimate. There's on-site lodging, an organic garden, equestrian trails, and glamping at Moore's Lake for guests who want to stay close.

I love designing here because the land itself has a presence. My job is to honor it — not compete with it.

2. The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel — Dana Point, California

The Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel is an extraordinary outdoor wedding venue for couples who want the Pacific Ocean as their backdrop.

Perched on a bluff in Dana Point, California, this upscale resort overlooks the Pacific Ocean and Salt Creek Beach from every angle.

Couples get panoramic views throughout their ceremony, with options to gather across oceanfront lawns, Spanish-tiled terraces, garden courtyards, or elegant indoor ballrooms.

While the largest ballroom holds 900 guests for grand celebrations, the 55,000 square feet of outdoor event space provides the perfect nooks for intimate alfresco dinners, cocktail receptions, and ceremonies.

Every space is designed to frame the coastline. The sound of crashing waves, the salty ocean air, and the sunsets over the horizon make Southern California coastal beauty the star of the show.

The venue's layout makes transitions between inside and outside seamless. Outside, bright and bold sunset hues match the surrounding ocean perfectly. Inside, you can shift to an entirely different design in softer tones. The contrast is stunning.

Laguna Niguel's Mediterranean climate means sunshine is almost guaranteed — which only adds to the magic.

3. The Beverly Hilton — Beverly Hills, California

For an outdoor wedding venue that combines timeless elegance with versatile space, look no further than The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. This longstanding hotel blends Hollywood legacy with modern sophistication.

The property offers nearly nine acres of gardens, courtyards, and terraces — all in the heart of Beverly Hills, ready to be transformed into breathtaking ceremonies and receptions.

Each space here has its own personality. The Wilshire Garden is an idyllic spot to exchange vows under the California sun, with a manicured lawn bordered by classic palm trees and living succulent walls. The Beverly Hills Ballroom brings in natural light through retractable windows that shines beautifully against custom Murano chandeliers.

The flexibility of this property is a major advantage. Its gardens become stages for artistry. We've completely reimagined them as outdoor rooms — framing the space with chandeliers, cascading floral installations, and architectural decor that turns a simple lawn into something entirely unforgettable.

4. Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills — Beverly Hills, California

The Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills provides outdoor and indoor wedding venues that blend luxury with classic California style.

This 1980s hotel is the design creation of Gin Wong — the Angeleno architect celebrated for his Mid-Century Modern designs across Los Angeles and beyond. This timeless elegance can be seen throughout the property, from the Wetherly Pavillion where lily pads sit beside historic stone architecture, to its ballroom adorned with floor-to-ceiling French doors.

This property is already noted for its floral offerings, from its lush succulents and citrus trees that line its terraces to its rotating signature floral arrangements displayed throughout. It is a venue that takes botanicals seriously — which makes it a natural fit for what we do.

The Wetherly Pavilion is the signature outdoor space for weddings. It comes with colorful blooms, lush greenery, and elegant tenting for cooler months.

La Ola Deck is something else entirely. This rooftop terrace offers 360-degree views of the Hollywood Hills, downtown Los Angeles, and the Pacific Ocean at sunset. It is the perfect setting for cocktail receptions and wedding photos that feel genuinely cinematic.

The property's clean, sophisticated aesthetic makes it ideal for timeless all-white wedding looks. White roses, hydrangeas, and flowering trees set against its outdoor altar create something effortlessly stunning. And when the moment comes to move inside, the transition is seamless — from lush garden to glamorous ballroom, without losing a single thread of the design story.

5. Hotel Bel-Air — Los Angeles, California

Hotel Bel-Air stands out as a luxury outdoor venue in Los Angeles thanks to its whimsical elements.

Couples begin by crossing the fairytale bridge at Swan Lake, where resident swans swim amongst gazebos, grottos, arches, and fountains bathed in shimmering sunlight. From there, they wander into the Front Lawn — the perfect landscape for a ceremony adorned with fragrant gardens, lush greenery, and soft ambient lighting.

Just steps from the garden is the Garden Ballroom — an elegant interior featuring mercury glass chandeliers, high arches, and neutral tones.

Throughout the property, whispering gardens, secluded pools, and secret paths create a sense of privacy that is rare in Los Angeles. Tucked into a tranquil 12-acre canyon, the hotel offers an unmatched atmosphere of refined Hollywood elegance. Past guests include Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, and generations of the world's most discerning travelers.

Its winding pathways and lakes become grounds for starry tent setups, gourmet banquets, and lush cocktail hours under the open sky, and seamless transitions into elevated indoor receptions as the evening unfolds.

There is nowhere quite like it.

6. Villa Astor — Amalfi Coast, Italy

Villa Astor is one of the most magical outdoor wedding venues on the Amalfi Coast.

Perched on the cliffs of Sorrento, the estate offers sweeping views of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius.

Its history dates back to the 1st century A.D. Nearly two hectares of gardens showcase more than 1,000 plant species, ancient ruins, fountains, and hidden pathways.

Rare botanicals and ancient Greek and Roman statues surround the property. Roman villa ruins rise up among the greenery. Together, they create a breathtaking atmosphere for outdoor ceremonies and alfresco receptions, all set against uninterrupted views of the Mediterranean.

The interiors are just as magnificent. Neoclassic architecture, frescoed halls, and period antiques fill the estate with old-world grandeur. Six suites provide luxury lodging for guests, while the grounds accommodate outdoor ceremonies for up to 120 guests and receptions for up to 200.

We have deep relationships with the Amalfi Coast’s top caterers, photographers, entertainers, and vendors who understand the estate’s refined aesthetic as well as we do. We regularly design weddings and editorial shoots here, and every time, this villa reminds us why it remains one of the most extraordinary places in the world to celebrate love.

7. Hummingbird Nest Ranch — Simi Valley, California

Hummingbird Nest Ranch is only a short drive from Los Angeles, but this outdoor wedding venue's scenic location in the Santa Susana Mountains transports you into another world.

This sprawling property offers a remarkable range of spaces for celebrating, each with its own distinct character.

The grand 17,000-square-foot villa is a Spanish Colonial architectural dream, featuring arched entryways perfect for draping in fresh florals, tiled staircases, curved columns, water fountains, and 360-degree mountain views. Its historic ranch, the Sitting Bull, dates back to the 1920s and sits in a Tuscan-inspired courtyard surrounded by soaring eucalyptus, cypress, pepper, and olive trees.

For outdoor ceremonies, the Grand Prix offers a lush open field framed by natural rock formations, with the villa rising in the background. The Lake Lawn brings a more romantic, countryside feel with guests seated among elm and coral trees beside a glistening lake. There's also the Q Vineyard, with sweeping vineyard and mountain views, and a barn that can host up to 800 guests.

Beyond its scenery, this venue offers the kind of flexibility that makes planning effortless. Every rental includes a full 24 hours on-site, giving couples room to set up and break down without rushing. Each booking also comes with bridal party dressing suites, luxury restrooms with attendants, vendor parking, and access to up to 14 on-site accommodations — from intimate casitas to full townhomes.

8. The Beverly Hills Hotel — Beverly Hills, California

The Beverly Hills Hotel is one of Los Angeles' most iconic outdoor wedding venues, and with good reason. Known as "The Pink Palace," the hotel has welcomed Hollywood royalty, dignitaries, and glamorous celebrations for over a century. As soon as you step onto its grounds, you understand why.

Tucked into lush greenery along Sunset Boulevard, the hotel is wrapped in blooming gardens, palm trees, and its iconic green, white, and pastel pink color palette.

In spring and summer, the hotel's gardens become the perfect canvas for outdoor weddings. Expansive lawns, tropical palms, and manicured hedges create a vibrant green backdrop for ceremonies — one that pairs beautifully with both bold and soft-toned florals and decor.

One of the greatest strengths of The Beverly Hills Hotel is how effortlessly events flow from garden to ballroom. Couples can host romantic outdoor ceremonies under the California sky, then move into the Crystal Ballroom or Sunset Ballroom, where sparkling chandeliers, mirrored accents, and refined interiors continue the celebration without interruption. This versatility makes the venue a perfect fit for couples who want a wedding that combines natural beauty with Hollywood glamour.

9. Château Vaux-le-Vicomte — Maincy, France

Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, located just outside of Paris, is one of the world's most exclusive outdoor wedding venues.

The 17th-century Baroque château's sweeping gardens, cascading fountains, and expansive courtyard create a once-in-a-lifetime backdrop for outdoor wedding ceremonies and receptions.

Couples can exchange vows in the famed Lenôtre gardens, host cocktails beneath the stars, and continue the celebration inside the château's ornate ballrooms.

The flow of this property's spaces adds to its grandeur. Guests begin with an intimate cocktail reception in the outdoor garden, then walk through a sequence of luxuriously illuminated rooms and gardens. Inside, majestic domed rotunda ballrooms and historic ceremony rooms set the stage for galas and grand receptions alike.

Planning an international wedding — especially at a venue as luxurious and historically rich as Vaux-le-Vicomte — takes local insight and global coordination. That's where we come in. We handle partnerships with local high-end caterers, florists, entertainers, lighting, and fireworks providers, ensuring every detail aligns with the château's timeless elegance.

10. Private Estate Weddings: Transforming Homes into Outdoor Wedding Venues

Not every couple dreams of saying "I do" at a hotel or resort. For many, the most meaningful celebrations happen at home, or within the intimacy of a private estate.

Hosting your wedding at a private estate allows for an intimacy that traditional venues cannot replicate. Every detail feels personal — from walking down a familiar garden path to dining beneath the same trees you grew up around.

Private estates also come with fewer preset rules. You have the freedom to build your dream environment from the ground up. From romantic garden ceremonies to candlelit dining beneath the stars, you can create the atmosphere of a true escape without ever leaving home.

I've had the privilege of designing at some of the most spectacular estates across Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Malibu, Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, Southern California, Europe, and beyond. These locations range from sprawling oceanfront villas to tucked-away ranches in the mountains.

Whether you're envisioning a modern celebration, a traditional ceremony with timeless details, a luxurious ballroom-to-garden affair, or a whimsical garden wedding under the stars, our team creates the design you envision.
